How many pages does a trade website need?

25 July 2026 · 5 min read

Some builders make page count sound like a philosophy exam. For most trades it is simpler than that.

One of the first questions local agencies ask is how many pages you need. Then the quote grows with every extra page like pages are magic.

Pages matter. Page count obsession does not.

What actually matters

  • Can someone tell what you do in seconds?
  • Can they find your services and your area?
  • Can they call or enquire without hunting?
  • Does it work on a phone?
  • Is it fast enough that they stay?

That can be a tight set of pages done properly. Home. Services. Areas. About. Contact. Maybe a book or quote path. Done.

More pages is not more jobs

Thin pages stuffed with the same keywords do not impress Google and they do not impress customers. They make the site feel bigger than it is useful.

I would rather ship a clear site this week than pad a sitemap for a bigger invoice.

Grow when there is a reason

Need a page for a specialist service later? We add it. Need a case study when you have real photos? We add it. That is normal.

Starting with twenty half-finished pages because an agency said "content strategy" is not normal. That is padding.
