Website maintenance is often just WordPress babysitting

Agencies say every site needs an MOT. A lot of the time they mean their WordPress stack needs constant updates. Here's the honest version.
You will hear this from local agencies and web builders: launch is not the end. Your website is like a car. It needs servicing forever.
Part of that is true. Sites need looking after. Hosting. Security. The odd change. Someone who answers when something is wrong.
But read the fine print of what they call maintenance. Updating core software. Themes. Plugins. Malware scans. Compatibility fixes. That is the WordPress tax.
They sell you the fire. Then they sell the hose.
Build the site on a pile of plugins. Then sell a monthly plan to keep the pile from falling over. Then charge extra when it still breaks.
That is a business model. It is not proof that every website on earth needs the same ritual.
What real care looks like
- The site stays online and fast
- Security is handled without you becoming an IT department
- Prices, photos, and services get updated when you ask
- Support is included, not £50/h every time you ring
That is what I include in founder price £49/m. Not because I ignore the site after launch. Because I did not build you something that needs a monthly plugin parade.
Fresh content is not a scare tactic
Yes, update your services when they change. Yes, put real job photos up. No, you do not need a content factory and twelve blog posts a year before your homepage even converts.
Get the site right. Keep it honest. Grow it when there is a reason.
