Why WordPress is a trap for trades

WordPress is fine if you enjoy hobbies. It is a trap if you run a trade and just want the phone to ring.

You get sold "easy to edit". What you actually get is a stack of plugins, a theme that fights you, and a site that slows down every year until someone quotes you another grand to "rebuild".

The plugin lottery

Your contact form is a plugin. Your gallery is a plugin. Your SEO is a plugin. Your security is a plugin. Your speed "fix" is another plugin.

One update from someone you've never met and the whole thing falls over. Then you're ringing the agency. Then you're on the clock at £50/h. Thank you again.

You don't need a CMS login

Most tradesmen do not want another login. They want a price changed, a new job photo up, a service added. That should be an email. Not an evening lost in Elementor.

Fast on a phone or it's useless

Your next job is almost certainly looking on their phone. If your site takes five seconds to load, they ring the next lad. WordPress theme piles are famous for that.

I care about speed because missed calls cost more than a monthly site fee. That is the whole point.
